Synopsis
Karen, the adult child of an ailing alcoholic mother, returns to her childhood home to set her mom’s chaotic affairs in order. In the process she’s confronted with her own sobriety – old traumas are re-opened. When truths are exposed, mother, daughter and long-lost beau Josh, must reconcile – or not – the past with the present.

Tamara Silvera is a Canadian-born American multidisciplinary artist. Her new trilogy of plays, The Motherlode, consists of Grist, The Promise of a Man and St. Ingrid. Examining the lives of three sisters individually, each play, referred to by the playwright as a “traumedy,” delves into the repercussions of addiction and generational trauma – with devastating effect on the sisters and everyone surrounding them.
